Social Development and Management Plan (SDMP)

-  refers to the comprehensive five-year plan of the Contractor/Permit Holder/Lessee authorize to conduct actual mining and milling operations towards the sustained improvement in the living standards of the host and neighboring communities by creating responsible, self-reliant and resource-based communities capable of developing, implementing and managing community development programs, projects, and activities in a manner consistent with the principle of people empowerment.

Rationale

  • Spread the benefits of the Project to the host and neighboring communities.
  • Coordinate developments with other government agencies.
  • Avoid community dependency on the project.
  • Achieve sustainable development through prudent funds management.

Goals

  • Enhance relationships with the host community by spreading project benefits equitably.
  • Involve the government agencies in the community development effort to deliver basic services.
  • Avoid dependency on the project by local communities for services that are normally provided by government.
  • Funds under SDMP control shall support sustainable development to provide benefits long after project closure.

Objectives

  • Measurable benefits shall have accrued to residents of the six Barangays that compose the DIA/IIA within six years.
  • Establish an SDMP Advisory Committee composed of locals, Barangay, municipal, provincial, and national government and NGO representatives.
  • Support local authorities’ efforts to take the lead in planning and implementing development.
  • Priority in SDMP funds will be given to projects with long-term benefits.
