The bulk tailings from the Bulk Flotation circuit contain no cyanide. Only tailings from the Zinc line have approximately 25 ppm free cyanide content and therefore undergo treatment at the cyanide detoxification circuit so that by the time they are discharged to the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), the tailings contain no more than 0.2 ppm free CN, which is the effluent standard. The tailings line to the TSF is equipped with sensors connected at the computer central room at the process plant to monitor abnormal pressure drops that signify leaks at pipeline.
